ABSTRACT:
Bauhinia purpurea, a useful medicinal plant was subjected to phytochemical investigation. A new ursane triterpenes a- amyrin caprylate (compound 1) was isolated along with other triterpenoids from petroleum ether fraction of ethanolic extract (95%) of leaf of Bauhinia purpurea. Their structures were elucidated with the help of physico-chemical methods and spectroscopic techniques. All of these triterpenes from this plant are being reported for the first time.
