ABSTRACT:
A simple, sensitive, precise, economic and accurate UV spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Iloperidone in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Iloperidone is a second generation atypical antipsychotic agent which is used for the acute treatment of schizophrenia in adults. Iloperidone exhibits absorption maxima (? max) at 229.5 nm with apparent molar absorptivity of 2.03 x104 L/mol.cm in 0.1N HCL. Beer’s law was found to be obeyed in the concentration range of 2-20 µg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9994 and regression equation for the line of best fit, y = 0.0499x - 0.0111. The method is accurate, precise and economical. The result of mean % recovery was found to be 99.70 + 0.41 % for Iloperidone which shows that the method was not affected by the presence of common excipients in formulation. The % RSD for both inter-day and intra-day precision was found to be less than 2%. The limit of detection (LOD) and Limit of quantification (LOQ) was found to be 0.106 µg/mL and 0.321 µg/mL respectively. The method was validated by determining its sensitivity, linearity, accuracy and precision which proves suitability of the developed method for the routine estimation of Iloperidone in bulk and tablet dosage form and quality control analysis.
