ABSTRACT:
The analysis of groundwater quality of various parts of Thanjavur and Nagapattinam district was carried out. The Physicochemical parameters such as turbidity, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solid, pH, alkalinity, chloride, calcium, magnesium, iron, sulphate, etc., were determined. The results were compared with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) drinking water quality guidelines. From the result we observed, most of the physicochemical parameters of collected water samples in Nagapattinam district lies above the BIS limit, but collected water samples of Thanjavur region are lies below the desirable limit of drinking water standards of BIS. Improper waste management in markets, soil nature and nearest in ocean etc are increases the pollution of groundwater of Nagapattinam region. This study creates awareness to public.
