ABSTRACT:
Three simple spectrophotometric methods have been developed for simultaneous estimation of Ceftazidime Sodium (CEFTA) and Tazobactam Sodium (TAZO) for dry powder injection. Distilled water was used as solvent. Method-I is simultaneous equation method which involves the measurement of absorbances at two wavelengths 231 nm (?-max of CEFTA) and 276 nm (?-max of TAZO) ; Method-II Area under curve (AUC) at wavelength range from 233-229nm (CEFTA); and 278-274nm (TAZO); and Method-III multicomponent mode of analysis which involves the measurement of absorbances at 231 nm (?-max of CEFTA) and 276 nm (?-max of TAZO); The linearity lies between 5-40µg/ml for CEFTA and 5-30µg/ml for TAZO for all the three methods. The accuracy and precision of the methods were determined and validated statistically. All the methods showed good reproducibility and found to be rapid, specific, precise and accurate with % RSD less than 2. These methods can be successfully applied for the routine analysis of CEFTA and TAZO in bulk and combined dosage form.
