ABSTRACT:
In the present paper, biological removal of high concentrations of H2S generated from UASB reactor was investigated. Bio-scrubber method was used to remove H2S from Biogas. Bio-scrubber method, in which biological reactions are performed by Microorganisms to remove H2S is one of the most suitable methods for this purpose. According to performed studies, a system consisting of a biological absorption tower and an activated sludge system with regard to facilities was designed and built. In order to determine the system efficiency several parameters such as H2S concentration, Sludge flow, gas flow, pH and temperature were measured.
According to the results of H2S concentration in the biogas, output from Bio-scrubber has been effectively reduced. Considering high removal efficiency and low installation and maintenance costs of this method compared to other methods, it is quite economically justified.
