ABSTRACT:
Zirconia is emerging as a promising alternative to conventional Titanium based implant systems for oral rehabilitation with superior biological, aesthetics, mechanical and optical properties. Zirconia appears to have a high biocompatibility, and a soft tissue response similar to titanium. The inflammatory response and bone resorption induced by ceramic particles may be less than those induced by titanium particles owing to stable nature of the zirconium oxides. Titanium is not a deal in all situations owing to the darker nature of the metal and a viable esthetic alternative needs to be identified.
