ABSTRACT:
One pot, four-component condensation of an aryl aldehyde, acetyl chloride, acetophenone and acetonitrile in the presence of Copper(II) chloride dihydrate is reported. Copper(II) chloride as an inexpensive, efficient, and readily available catalyst for the synthesis of ß-acetamido ketones in high yields. The products obtained were clean and devoid of any undesired impurities as evident from 1H NMR, IR, and TLC analysis.
